Every Morning is Full of Possibility

When we wake up in the morning we not only start the day anew but have the opportunity to create new possibility for ourselves and the world.  The mornings are a time for true and pure creation.  What I focus on at that moment starts to create purpose and direction for my life at that moment.  The mornings are a new beginning for us in so many ways.

When I wake up at 4 am every morning I take a moment to begin to intention my day.  The intention I create at that moment sets the stage for much of what will take place throughout my day.  It is about choosing what I will take on from that point forward, will begin to generate and do so until I got to sleep at night.  The creation of possibility in the morning is very powerful.

Take a moment upon arising to intention your day, to say with your word what you will begin to create for yourself and even others.  Once your start to think and say what you want to have happen you begin to attract that into your life.  Again, your word, spoken or written, will determine the journey of your life.

Comments about the Power of Intention.

I am currently reading a book by Wayne Dyer, The Power of Intention.  This is a very powerful book.  Its application to all human beings interested in transforming their lives is very direct, including those in recovery.  All of our problems are the result of us being “disconnected” from our source, from intention or God.

While I believe that positive affirmation can help to transform a person’s life, to help them feel better, ultimately this transformation has to led to reestablishing that union that Dr Dyer talks about.  Without the connection we live our life from ego, and with this comes the problems and struggles of life.  It appears that meditation is part of this process for reconnecting.

The two modalities are important, positive affirmations and meditation.  Ester and Jerry Hicks wrote about the power of affirmations and meditation for transforming a person’s life and way of being.  When these two modalities are put together the therapeutic result can be very powerful.

The Connection at work and with being of service.

My work is about being of service to others.  I believe that what Dan Millman said in the Peaceful Warrior about the highest purpose is for us to be of service to others.  It is a giving and the creation of transformation for others, through the program of recovery.  It is not that I can change anyone but rather that I can have a conversation about transformation, about them transforming their life.

The message, so to speak, comes from many levels.  It comes from the thoughts I have about something I have read or have been working in my studies.  At times I am not sure where the message comes from.  Tonight was one of those moments.  When I speak in group, for example, there have been times where I believe it was not be speaking, rather something or someone else.  Such a moment happened again tonight.

I believe that what generated the conversation about transformation came from that connection that we practice restoring.  Dyer wrote of this in his book, The Power of Intention.  The connection is to our intention, to that which connects us all to each other, creating unity.

Commitment in the Face of our Self Limiting Belief.

One of the keys to transformation is to honor our commitment to transforming our life.  Once we create the intention to transform we set into motion the particulars and specifics of what it will take for us to create the life that we say we want.  Such a process will involve having integrity, staying to that which we say we will do, completing it the way it was supposed to happen and doing that which we need to do to its completion.

Once we set this process into motion things may start to happen.  No, they will happen, roadblocks will appears where before there were none.  Things will happen in life, things will appear as though they are blocking our transformation.  Our work is to move through them, to accept things as they are, to give up our resistance to how things are, to surrender, and to push on anyway.

One of the barriers or constraints that we will be confronted with will not be about other people, places and things. Rather, the roadblock will be something we generate.  It will be our very thoughts and beliefs, thoughts and beliefs that we have about ourselves.  We will create the limits to that which we live our life, and we will do so with respect to and in conflict with our intention to transform our life.  What it will take is for us to stay present to our commitment and even in the face of our self limiting belief, transform who we think we are, who we are to ourselves and the world.  We simply have to do the work.

Daily Homework – Two Principles for your Transformation in Recovery

Below are two more Principles of the Daily Homework for transforming your life, especially for those in recovery.

1.  Develop your Recovery plan.  Plan your work with your sponsor and therapist.  Your Recovery Plan is about your life.  Your Recovery Plan is about your integrity.  Integrity is the bottom line.  Are you in integrity with your Recovery Plan?  Are you in integrity with your life?  Without a Recovery Plan much of life may not be lived the way that you want.

2.  Develop your Daily Action Plan.  Work your plan and be held accountable to your sponsor and therapist.  Do your Daily Action Plan everyday.  Your Daily Action Plan is about your commitment and integrity with respect to your Recovery Plan.  Your Daily Action Plan is about fulfilling on your intention and commitments.  Your Daily Action Plan is about keeping your Recovery Plan in existence.

Our true intention shows up in our actions.

Our true intention will show up in our actions.  What we do and how we behave will reveal our real intention, regardless of what we say or express verbally.  It is important in any change process, including the recovery program, to plan or say your intention.  Plan and express your intention each morning upon awakening and stay present to it throughout the day.  What are you committed to today?  What are you committed to now?  What is it that you want to create in your life?  What is it that you want to create now?

To fulfill on our intention will require a plan, both a recovery plan and a daily action plan, tools to bring about ones intention.  First is the recovery plan, a general direction in which you will go, the goals that you will attempt to accomplish.  Remember to develop your recovery plan.  Plan your work.  Your recovery plan is about your life and your integrity.  Once created, are you in integrity with your recovery plan?  Are you in integrity with your life?

Next is your daily action plan, how you will bring your recovery plan into reality and your day to day life.  Remember to create your daily action plan daily.  Always work this plan daily.  Your daily action plan is about your commitment and integrity with respect to your recovery plan.  Your daily action plan is about fulfilling on your intention and commitments.  Your daily action plan is about keeping your recovery plan in existence.

What You Want versus What You Do Not Want!

In the movie The Secret, Jack Canfield discusses a very important distinction that is important for us to get. The distinction is about what we want versus what we dont want. Most people live life from what they do not want, trying to avoid certain things in life rather than moving towards what they want. NLP refers to the same conversation as moving towards something as opposed to moving away from something. If we attempt to simply stay away from something or are constantly moving away from that something, it is no wonder that we will keep ths same in our life. Simply stated, what we think about and put conscious attention and intention to, physically manifests into our life. While something may not be that which we consciously tell ourselves that we do not want, we create it anyway. If what keeps showing up in our life is what we do not want then getting the importance of positive thoughts and thinking will allow you the opportunity to change your life. While this distinction may appear simple, there are some, if they were honest, would admit that they do not know what they want from and out of life.
